Serving Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Liphook, Chichester, Petersfield, Southsea, Fareham and Surrounds
I support new and not-so-new mums to recharge, regain confidence and be the best mum they can be.
Becoming a mother is one of the most challenging and rewarding things I have ever done and I hope it will be so for you too.
I know what it is like to be a mum, once, twice, three times! I had no family close by and I know what it is like to be unsure of myself and even lonely. Having experienced the value of a postnatal doula and experienced the difference it can make, it’s never surprising to me when another scientific paper proves the positive impact a doula can have on the mother and family.
I have been nurturing and supporting mothers for 7 years now since qualifying with Nurturing Birth in 2012 and I am a member of Hampshire Doulas.
I have a current DBS check and have done paediatric first aid.
I serve families 30 minutes drive from Cowplain in Hampshire.
My role is impartial, it is not for me to tell you what to do but I do have a wealth of local knowledge that can help you make an informed choice on what is best for you and your family.
How can I help you?
Every family is unique, so I tailor the service I provide to the mother's situation. Some mothers are looking for household support, some are looking for reassurance, others need signposting and companionship whilst doing one of the hardest jobs in the world and others need good old fashioned babysitting.
A doula typically mothers the mother. Not everyone wants to be mothered the same way...
Some women want to be heard - a birth debrief maybe, someone to bounce some ideas off with regards to baby care and routines or even...lack thereof, someone to help organise the home but most importantly, support, not directions. You are the mother and my aim is to support you to be the best mother you can be.

A typical day could be:
Loading up the washing for you, ironing shirts for the week, supporting a feed whilst chatting over a fresh coffee/tea about the challenges that may be popping up. I could take the baby out for a walk/watch over them while you take a nap. I can even order your online shopping for you or plan your meals. I can support you with wearing your baby in a sling or carrier too.
I typically provide morning support to get your days off to a good start but can also provide early evening support for those tough early days.
Parenting would be so much easier if when the children do finally sleep, you could just leave the house and rock on like you used to...except, for most of us, it isn't.
You need a baby sitter and not just anyone, someone experienced with children who you can trust and rely on with your most precious 'possessions' is essential.
I am happy to meet for a 30 minute free catch-up prior to booking and provide references. You can book an appointment online, call or email.
“I’m so grateful for the wonderful care, expert advice, and support I received from Wendy. Three months after the birth and I’m still using the tips she gave me.”
“My experience with Wendy was more than I could have ever asked for. I highly recommend getting a mother's help if you too are looking for more order in your life and the amazing feeling of being 'held' - cared for and listened to by an experienced professional.”
“I have used Wendy as a babysitter many times and cannot fault her reliability. The children like her and she is good with bedtimes."
